Yom Kippur 2024 – Wishing You an easy and meaningful fast.

Yom Kippur 2024 begins Friday, October 11th, and ends on Saturday, October 12th.

Some facts about Yom Kippur:

The holiest day of the Jewish year
A day of atonement for sins and reconciliation with God
Considered the most solemn Jewish holiday
Marks the end of the period of repentance lasting ten days
People fast for 25 hours, beginning before sundown on the previous night and ending after sundown on the day of the fast.
During the fast, no food or drink, including water and bread, is consumed
Additional restrictions include no work, driving, washing/bathing, perfumes or deodorants, wearing leather shoes, and no sex.
Orthodox Jews and many other observers also avoid using technology during the holiday.
The shofar, an ancient instrument made from a ram’s horn, plays special sounds at the end of Yom Kippur.
The playing of shofar is a reminder to start fresh and improve oneself.
